Duplication, glitching, promotions, and Viruses! Wow! - 6/25/2011

I'll start with the three things that most people know.
1)People can glitch into your shadow missions (Even if it's full) and leech your EXP.
2)People can become GMs. (Screenshot available upon request of a notorious game breaker doing it)
3)New program that allows Item/Gold duplication.

These three things can give players practically infinite EXP, Power, and Gold. How could it get worse?!

Well. Update your computer security because there's a 4th branch to this client instability.

Today, before work I started my computer. Every time I start my Pc, it runs a virus scan, just as a security thing. So I hopped on mabi, and went to work. Once I got home, I found my computer infected with Cycbot.B. Joy.

For those who don't know, Cycbot.B is a virus/Trojan that can take absolute control over your computer. It starts as a single virus, but can download without you knowing. Navigate to malicious websites. And steal all your personal information, easily infecting with more viruses.

Instantly, I pushed my computer into safe mode. Started a virus scan and detected it. Before I removed it though, I traced it, a small non-network trace. It originated from "Client.exe." Yes. I received this virus directly from the Mabinogi client. I am a legit player. I do not mod in any way.

There was always multiple security holes in the client. Me and several people had filed tickets upon tickets to get this fixed. It never has. These holes started showing in G4. Apprentally people are learning how to exploit them now.

I am in no way attempting to scare any of you to not play. But be careful. If you get hit by this virus, and know it. immediatly shut off all network connections. The virus is useless if someone cannot access it. Then simply scan, and remove as needed. The important part is to shut off your computers internet ASAP.

I have submitted a ticket to Nexon about this. I have others as well. Complete with screen shotted proof, which I will not share as it contains some personal information.

Again, I'm not trying to scare. Just inform.

I has the full version of McAfee provided by my school
I update it pretty often and (I think) it runs scheduled scans
I wonder if I'm safe? ;A ;

Also, is this gold/item dupe common enough to throw off the economy?
I thought there was enough inflation in Mabi Q_Q

I'm glad I keep my computer clean, plus I haven't played mabinogi in a while. But I'll keep my computer in check.
